GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirements set by the italian Ministry of Education, University and Research
In order to be eligible for admission to a 1st Level Academic Program*, leading to an academic degree awarded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) students have to:
1) hold a foreign school leaving qualification that:
a. satisfies the requirements for access to university education in the awarding country; and that
b. was conferred on completion of min. 12 years of previous global schooling
2) be competent in the language of the chosen course
3) comply with the pre-enrolment procedures to submit to the relevant Italian Diplomatic Authorities the documents foreseen by the law regulating EU and NON EU citizens’ access to Italian universities.
IED Admission requirements for international EU and non EU Students
To comply with the Ministerial entry requirements and the strict level of quality IED has established for its courses an admission process for the Three-Year Bachelor of Arts Degree Course that requires International Students to:
a. hold a diploma or other high school qualification that complies with the Ministry directives;
b. have an entry level of language proficiency that complies with the requirements described above;
c. be 18 years old by 31/12/2012;
d. have undergone the pre-enrolment MIUR process at the Italian Embassy or Consulate;
e. have passed the IED Admission Interview process.
*Students who do not comply with the minimum 12 years of previous global schooling may always apply to the chosen course and obtain a three years diploma IED.
IED ADMISSION AND ENROLMENT PROCESS
The Admission and Enrolment process foresees four steps to be completed before September 30th 2012.
The four admission steps are the following:
1) Pre-enrollment process
2) Personal Admission Test Interview
3) Enrolment confirmation process
4) Matriculation process
Pre-Enrolment Process
IED Pre-enrollment procedures
To gain admission to the selected BA course students must comply with the Pre-enrollment procedures and send the following documents:
a. the pre-enrolment form and the registration request forms for the Admission Test Interview, which can be found and downloaded from the web page of the selected BA Course at www.ied.edu, completely filled out and duly signed;
b. the Letter of motivation;
c. the supporting Portfolio (suggested but non compulsory);
d. a copy of their Passport or (for EU citizens only) of their Identity document;
e. a copy of the Certificate of Proficiency in the language of the chosen course, if available, in compliance with language requirements of the course (if not available the student will have to take the Language Assessment Test);
and as as soon as available:
f. a copy of their valid Diploma or high school qualification, translated into Italian (and authenticated by the Italian Embassy or Consulate);
g. the Declaration of local Value issued by the Italian Embassy or Consulate (Form E or Form L);
The pre-admission documents must be sent to the following e-mail address admissions@ied.edu or by fax to +39 02 5468517.
Pre-Enrolment Procedures established by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research
Students should contact and set an appointment to visit the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their country of residence (from April to May - exact dates should be checked with the Italian Embassy or Consulate) bringing the following documents:
1. the MIUR/AFAM Pre-enrolment form (the “A bis” form -for NON-EU students only);
2. an original of their valid official secondary school Diploma and transcripts;
3. a Certificate attesting that the University Entrance Exam in the student’s country of origin has been passed (only if that country requires this type of exam);
4. two passport pictures (one of which authenticated by the Italian Embassy or Consulate).
The Admission Test Interview
In order to facilitate the process of admission for foreign students, IED offers the possibility to go through the whole admission test interview process on-line. The on-line sessions will enable students to take the whole admission test interview (including the personal motivation interview and the language proficiency test) directly from the home PC using SKYPE as a platform.
The dates and time of the interview will be jointly agreed directly with the IED international admission office.
The Admission Test Interview consists of:
a. motivational interview based on a mandatory Motivational Letter and a digital Portfolio (suggested);
b. a language assessment test.
Please note: An on-site motivational interview can be organized only in special cases if the students are in Italy
Enrolment Confirmation
Once students have passed the admission interview, they will receive from IED:
a. a Certificate of Admission;
b. the Enrolment Contract Form for the Three-year Bachelor of Arts Degree course, which enables them to demonstrate to the Italian Diplomatic Authorities that they have passed the Admission Interview and have complied with the admission conditions to IED courses and to the pre-enrolment conditions set by the Italian Institutions;
c. the IED General Administrative conditions and regulations;
d. the IED Academic and Campus rules and regulations;
e. the approval declaration form of Consensus to the personal data treatment according to the Privacy law 196/2003, disclaimer for free services.
This will complete the admission phase, but will not guarantee the enrolment in the course.
In order to be assured of having a place in the course the applicants will have to complete the enrolment process by returning the Enrolment Contract Form duly filled and signed, pay the Enrolment Fee, Regional Tax and the Admission Test Interview fee and send it with a copy of the receipt of payment by mail to admissions@ied.edu or by fax to +39 02 5468517.
Visa Process
NON-European Union Citizens
Applicants from outside the EU must apply for a student visa at the nearest Italian Embassy or Consulate prior to leaving their home country.
Applicants should be prepared to submit the following documents in their original form (no photocopies are accepted):
a. a valid passport;
b. the Enrolment Certificate from IED;
c. proof of sufficient funds to support their stay in Italy (bank documentation is required in some countries);
d. evidence of private health insurance.
European Union Citizens
EU citizens do not need a student visa to enter Italy. However, when they stay in Italy for a period of more than 3 months, the law requires to register at the local registry office (in Italian: Anagrafe), which requires:
a. a valid passport or Identification Document;
b. the Enrolment certificate from IED;
c. a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC);
d. an E106 form, which must be obtained in the student’s home country before coming to Italy.
Matriculation
Finally to complete matriculation in the chosen BA degree course, students must proceed to:
a. the payment of the first year tuition fee: this should be done with a single payment no later than September 30th 2012;
b. the application for a residence permit (Permesso di soggiorno): to be requested through the Italian Post Office within 8 days from the arrival in Italy;
c. the payment of the first module of the Prerequisite Course fee if required (not later than August 31st 2012).
IED to complete matriculation must have received from the student all the requested documents.
Reccomended Timing
Enrolment for the 2012-2013 academic year at IED started in November 2011 and ends in September 2012. In order to successfully enroll foreign students, especially those coming from NON-EU countries, are strongly advised to send all documentation and start the process of admission to IED as soon as possible.
Direct Admission / Transfer Student
Students who wish to be admitted the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Arts course must go through the same Admission Process described above and complete it with the following extra documentation:
a. Transfer Student Form duly filled and signed (downloadable on the BA Course web page);
b. study curriculum translated into Italian or English, specifying the credits obtained (transcript) and a Description of the subjects;
c. a personal Curriculum Vitae;
d. a digital Portfolio.
All documents must be send via email to admissions@ied.edu or faxed to +39 02 5468517.
Once IED has received all this documentation, the Academic Council will appraise the application’s suitability to be directly admitted to the 2nd year after evaluation of the academic credits and/or debits situation. If admitted the applicant will have to undergo an interview with a member of the Academic Team of the chosen location to undersign the Course Structure.
Enrolment and Tuition Fees
Enrolment and tuition fees can be found for each BA Course you wish to apply for in the pre-enrolment form downloadable in the selected Course page. They are composed by: Enrolment Fee, Regional DSU Tax, Admission Test Interview Fee and Tuition Fee.
The Language Prerequisite course fee, if requested, is not included in the above mentioned fees.
Reimbursements
IED will reimburse the Enrolment Fee only if NON-EU visa application is refused (letter of refusal to be provided as evidence).
Please note: Withdrawal from courses follow IED General Administrative Conditions and Regulations, that can be downloaded from the website.
AFTER ENROLMENT
Payment of tuition fee
After enrolling, students need to proceed with payment of the tuition fee and, if requested, the Prerequisite fee within the provided timing.
Prerequisite placement test
Students who need to follow the Prerequisite language course, have to report to IED at the beginning of September to undergo a language placement test necessary to evaluate the appropriate class level.
Induction Programme.
All the students enrolled to IED courses have to participate in the Induction Programme, which is designed to welcome and introduce new students to IED and gain important information about the course they are enrolled in.
After completing all these steps will be officially an IED student, ready to begin your new experience!
